About Me

Minneapolis, MN, United States
I seek for peace, goodness, god-ness, something like this. Sometimes I’m closer, sometimes I’m further away. Sometimes within me, always outside me. Yet, still I am seeking.

Purpose

What is your purpose? What is purpose? Do we even have purposes? Or just one common purpose? Maybe no purpose at all. These are good questions. The answers matter. They have purpose.

Purpose does exist. The concept of it within human consciosness exists. There is a continuity across these conceptions that give it a definition. But is it one thing out there to find? Like a dinosaur skeleton underground? The skeleton has a form to be found. Does purpose exist as one form common to all humans?

Regardless, start with your purpose as a question. If you don't believe you have on, we'll talk later. What is your purpose? Why are you eating this food and drinking this water? Why do you enter the world, and why do you get out of bed? Purpose is the humans' ultimate why. It is the original reason from which all action is deduced. You may not know its form, may not ever, but if you did, it would be as I have described.

Purpose like this must exist. Without there being a purpose there can be no value, no motivation, no right or wrong. All of these things are referenced back to your purpose, your reason for life. If the action fulfills purpose, it is accepted and value as right. If the action contradicts purpose, then it is wrong and of poor quality.

Whether or not purpose can be known aside, whether you are even close to right in your conception of it, your answer is valuable to yourself. It is the fuel you run your car on, the pole your compass points to. Mattering itself happens through this.
