About Me

Minneapolis, MN, United States
I seek for peace, goodness, god-ness, something like this. Sometimes I’m closer, sometimes I’m further away. Sometimes within me, always outside me. Yet, still I am seeking.

the delicacy of inner-human change

As humans we are constantly changing and moving. We are in a state at this moment and we have desires to change and develop that so that tomorrow we are in a different state. Sometimes we want to lose weight, sometimes we want to get better at school and other times we want to stop a bad spending habit. Whatever it is, changing these things is a delicate and sometimes painful process.

I'd like to make a point about this sort of thing. In this change we are seeking, one of the most important factors is the mere awareness of our desires. The mere maintaining of this awareness is the most essential variable in being successful on our endeavors. This awareness allows us to view our surroundings in reference to our pursuits and therefore deduce answers in your surroundings such that you will understand how to get where you are going.

Where I am most often distorted here is in my measures of success. Too often I expect things to change upon my willing of their change. However, this is often not enough. Then, I shame myself for not having had success and try again and again. The cycle of acknowledging desire and then shaming for failure often wastes energy. I believe that the true key to solving any problem is understanding. And if you aren't changing in the way you are willing yourself to change then you are not understanding the problem. You may be right in acknowledging it, but you do not know how to fix it.

Repeatedly trying has rarely worked very well for me, and if it has, I believe it is not the best way. The idea of changing something in your lifestyle is supposed to make your life better. It doesn't make sense that you would take your current state and move it closer to a state of suffering as you think repeatedly of what you believe is inadequate. If it is inadequate, it is already making your life worse than it could be, so it is not the humans' job to punish itself for its' misdeeds. The process to change should be a continually improving process. Therefore, each day should be bettered if changed at all in reference to the thing you are wishing to change. In addition, I often find myself not moving at all in regards to these things, or if I do, I move right back sometime later.

This is why you must wait for the understanding necessary to change your predicament. It may take hours and it may take years, the only thing you can do is be aware. Your awareness of the factors surrounding your desired change is the best you can do in regards to improving yourself. This comes back to the ultimate point of this post; the most important factor in changing a part of your lifestyle is awareness of your desire to change and furthermore the variables impacting the thing being desired upon. At least I hope that's right.
