About Me

Minneapolis, MN, United States
I seek for peace, goodness, god-ness, something like this. Sometimes I’m closer, sometimes I’m further away. Sometimes within me, always outside me. Yet, still I am seeking.

Weekends

So, a man I was talking to posed the thought, "why do you call it a weekend?" Well, "do you enjoy those days more than the weekdays? Shouldn't you enjoy everyday?" I'm not debating this, but sparking a thought process. It is interesting to me on this ground that weekends are creations of societal habit. But what of the issue of rest? The thing I like about the weekend as a concept is as a concept of rest. But then again, how many people just rest on the weekends? How many religious people even find time to rest on their Sabbath days or whichever they are called in whichever language you speak?

Could the idea of rest be a good thing? Perhaps the weekend or Sabbath sorts of ideas are not good in anyway independent of them just being time set to rest. Would it be better for all people that perhaps their was guaranteed down-time where they could just take a step back and get ready to dive in again? Surely, this is a personal experiment. Whatever your lifestyle allows you must decide if some time to stop trying to improve yourself for a bit every week is important and just how important that is. I have done some experimenting but must say I haven't really found any rhythm to it. Just a thought.
